What is so special about Virukill?

Virukill is a unique product. Many existing disinfectants claim to have some of the same effective properties as Virukill, but none of them can match Virukill’s effective technology. Here are some of the reasons:

Glutaraldehyde compounds cause rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis and asthma… but Virukill does not.

Glutaraldehyde compounds lose their effectiveness at low temperatures and low pH… but Virukill does not.

Glutaraldehyde is inactivated by ammonia and protein and poses environmental hazards… but Virukill does not.

Quaternary ammonium compounds do not effectively inactivate non-enveloped viruses… but Virukill does not.

Quaternary ammonium compounds have poor spore killing effects… but Virukill does not.

Potassium peroxymonosulfate compounds are sensitive to high temperatures because they are oxidases and cause corrosion of equipment… but Virukill is not like that.

High levels of potassium peroxymonosulfate compounds are needed (1000ppm) to be effective in drinking water for animals… but Virukill is not like that.

Phenolic compounds cannot be sprayed directly on animals… Virukill can be sprayed directly on animals.

Most disinfectants on the world market have not been fully tested… Virukill has been tested and the R&D budget is part of its budget.

How effective is Virukill in killing poultry pathogens?

Virukill is active against all pathogen groups at different concentrations (viruses, bacteria, fungi and the mycoplasma family). It is even effective against algae. Internationally recognized institutions and researchers have regularly tested Virukilll, including:

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS

The Department of Tropical Diseases at the University of Pretoria (Ondersterpoort)

The Department of Poultry Diseases at the University of Pretoria (Ondersterpoort)

Agricultural Research Council (ARC), Irene

University of the Free State

All tests are performed and validated according to internationally accepted GLP codes. In summary, most bacteria and fungi were tested using 1% (1:100) or 0.5% (1:200) dilutions of Virukill with a 10 minutes contact time and an organic load of 1% dry milk plus 300ppm water hardness. Dry milk was used because it has strong inhibitory effects on chemical compounds and is ideal for inducing field conditions when combined with hard water.

Most viruses were tested using 1% (1:100) dilution with a 20 minutes contact time and an organic load of 1% dry milk plus 300ppm water hardness. A minimum of a 4 log reduction in pathogen population is required for the dilution ratios to be effective.

Why use Virukill?

Proper hygiene is the foundation of success, but on the farm the challenge is how to put these principles into practice. In short, animal hygiene focuses on 3 pillars:

Eradicating pathogens in the animal’s environment before they enter.

Eliminating pathogens once they have entered the environment.

Suppressing pathogens that have escaped from stages 1 and 2.

By strictly adhering to these 3 pillars, farmers can better manage risks. To date, no product on the market has been able to perform all 3 basic hygiene steps in a practical way. But after further innovation and research, researchers at ICA Laboratories invented Virukill. This product, for the first time, enables the farmer to implement the complete hygiene theory and implement risk management in a cost-effective and practical way.
